It breaks my heart to witness the struggle and pain I see at West Houston Assistance Ministries every day. There are those who have no food...We welcome them to fill their cart with free food from our Food Pantry... there are those who cannot pay their rent...We freely give them funds to help towards their outstanding debt and stave off homelessness. We also help people get a job, helping them help themselves...

The truth is, there are many people in Houston who are homeless, or who struggle to find enough food for their families or who don’t have the money needed to pay the bills. It is heart-wrenching to witness, to hear the painful stories of pain, struggle, and desperation. In my view, our society is at its finest when it is “actively caring for the ‘least of these’ ” when those who have, help those who are without. I see this every single day at West Houston Assistance Ministries...

Over the past year, WHAM has accomplished so much, and we are grateful for the resources that have allowed us to help over 47,000 people in crisis.
