West Houston Assistance Ministries provides short-term assistance to those in need in our service area.
We seek volunteers in all departments. Training is provided. We are located at 10501 Meadowglen Lane, north of Richmond and west of the Beltway.

All volunteers must fill out an Application and register. All Volunteers will participate in an Orientation session and Interview to determine the best fit of talent available to benefit WHAM.
Here are current opportunites:
Volunteers for CARE Ministry - Interviewers (and also Bilingual) - Need volunteer interviewers to speak with clients and help determine clothing, food, and work needs. Spanish a plus.
Hours: Mondays 10 am to 2 pm
Receptionst for CARE Ministry - Greet clients and assist interviewers, answer phones.
Hours: Fridays 10 am to 2 pm
Cashier Volunteer for Second Blessing Store - selling items, help customers in the store, sacking for cashiers, helping with vouchers.
ANY hours appreciated on any days.
Hours: Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Saturday 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Administrative Volunteers - for WHAM: Must know MS Word and Excel
Hours: Any day Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Students and Those wanting to get back into the workforse welcome.
ESL Class Volunteers - Assist adult students practice speaking and writing English as a second language. Classes held at Christ The Servant Church, 2400 Wilcrest, north of Westheimer.
HOURS: Monday - Thursday 10 a.m. till 1:30 p.m.
ESL Office Volunteers at WHAM - Light office typing, filing, computer knowledge a plus.
HOURS: Monday - Thursday 1:30 p.m. till 4:00 p.m.
Job Search Volunteers - Need volunteers -- at St. Cyril Church to assist DOMESTIC job seekers and employers -- at WHAM to assist BUSINESS job seekers search for work. Spanish speakers a plus.
at St. Cyril Church on Westheimer (2nd floor)
St. Cyril Hours: -- Mondays only 9:30 a.m. till 11:30 a.m.
and at WHAM
WHAM Hours: -- Monday - Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
GREETERS / Volunteers at the store - Need volunteers to be greeters for the store, both in the front of the store with the customers and the back of the
store with the donors - no lifting required.
Hours: Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Food Pantry Volunteers - Stock shelves and pull orders Hours: Thursdays and Fridays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Volunteer Chaplain - Mon & Wed 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
