Food  Assistance

Financial  ​Assistance

Part of our mission is to ensure that no one leaves WHAM hungry, and food is available from our Food Pantry weekdays from 10am-2pm, Saturdays from 10am-1pm for working clients (must provide current checkstub for Saturday service), and one Saturday each month at the WHAM Food Fair.
 
For those in need, we provide financial aid to help with the cost of rent, mortgage, or utilities for persons living in the following zip codes:
​77042, 77057, 77063, 77077, 77082.

​The financial appointment process has changed. EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2019, we no longer make financial appointments over the phone.  All financial appointments are made in person on a first come first serve basis at 9:00 AM for a same day appointment.  The number of appointments we can schedule per day is limited. See Client  Service Announcements for details.

Seasonal Programs

​​Seasonal programs include the Back-to-School Program, which distributes school supplies to students Pre-K through 12th grade, and Easter Baskets donated from coalition churches. Our Holiday Meals Program provides Thanksgiving and Christmas meal ingredients and grocery gift cards to those in need. Through our Holiday Program, we also provide toys for clients’ children who are under 10 years old and gift cards for older children, 10-18 years old, who are in school. Parents are invited to “shop” for their young children from donated toys and receive $25 gift cards for their older children. WHAM accepts donations of toys for ages infant-9 years and $25 gift cards for ages 10-18 years. ​​

Healthcare  ​Information

Local agencies offer information services to clients (in the lobby during Client Services hours and at the monthly WHAM Food Fair) including healthcare information, benefits enrollment, and mental health care assistance.

REGISTRATION BEGINS ON THE FOLLOWING DATES:

HOLIDAY MEALS AND TOYS: Sign up begins October 1, 2019
Sign up to receive free holiday meals (choose Thanksgiving or Christmas) and toys for
children ages 0-9 and gift cards for children ages 10 and older (through students currently enrolled in 12th grade).
For meals, you must reside in the following zip code service area, and 
for toys/giftcards, children must reside with parents in the following zip code service area:
 77042, 77057, 77063, 77072, 77077, 77082, 77083.
 Client Services hours: Monday-Friday, 10am-2pm.
 Documentation required including proof of residency, ID's, proof of income for household.

​SCHOOL SUPPLIES: Sign up dates for 2020-2021 school year will be announced in Spring 2020 
 Sign up to receive free school supplies for children residing in households with parents in zip code service area:
 77042, 77057, 77063, 77077, 77082, 77072, 77083 during Client Services hours, Monday-Friday, 10am-2pm.
 Documentation required including proof of residency, ID's, proof of income for household.

QUALIFICATIONS 

Qualifications for these services vary based on services received, but required documents include the following:

Passport or Two forms of ID (including one photo ID) for all adults in the household.
Two non-photo IDs for children
Proof of income
Proof of residency
